I would like to say firstly, thank you again Tracey and Julie and everyone at Pages 2 Scrap for the opportunity to continue as a DT member for a further 6 months. It is a great honour to be able to work with some fantastic product and of course the girls at the store, Tracey, Julie and Heidi.
This month we were sent the same pack to work with. It will be interesting to see how similar and how different we all make our projects this month.
I have had a great time working with the Carta Bella range this month.
The proof is in the projects - 4 layouts and 3 OTP's :)
I will begin with the layouts.
My first layout was an 8x8 of my daughter Rhyallie and her favourite tutu dress.
The theme of this kit is Valentines - and all things to do with LOVE. So, I ran with the LOVE theme and showcased the papers in this layout by hand cutting all the hearts - yes I know, mad, but I didn't have a punch.......then I ran some ink around the edges of the hearts (Versa Magic Jumbo Java ink). Some of the hearts I have distressed with my fingers, by pulling and scrunching the edges.
In this layout, I have scattered the hearts on the left side of the page after I ran the Sew Easy around the edges for a bit of definition. I have become a bit of a fan of instagram recently and used a photo that I took at Rosehill Races in December last year. Along with the hearts, I added some Twiddleybitz mirror hearts that I have had in my stash for some time........just for a bit of interest. The title of this layout is "LOVE her tutu dress"
Layout 2 is my favourite size as you know, 8.5x11cm. It really is an awesome size to work with :)
This page is titled IN DADDYS ARMS........again it is using an instagram pic I took of Rhyallie and Michael at a wedding we attended in September last year. It was on a boat on Sydney Harbour and it turned a little cool unexpectedly so Rhyallie chose Daddys Arms to keep her warm. You gotta love the look on his face in the first photo though - it was priceless. I chose to keep this one pretty simple in design, so that the splatters in the background came through. In our kit we were given some pretty Prima "Say it with Pearls" embellishments. I have used two on this layout to tie in with the sparkle in the Prima flowers (that are available in store). The background is actually 3-4 layers - firstly I used a WOW template as a background with some Kaiser egg shell paint. Then I sprayed the paint with Mister Hueys Opaque White and October Afternoons Sprinklers (Holiday Style - Santa's Hat and Tinsel). I added some small red bling for a bit of interest and to tie the red together. On the outside edge of this layout, I decided to have a bit of fun with a cool little tool that pierces the paper like you are sewing.
Next layout is titled SWeeT UNCONDITIONAL...........LoVe
This photo was taken by my friend Renee when she was looking after Rhyallie for us during the holidays. We were all at our holiday cabin in Ulladulla and Renee took the girls to the beach. Rhyallie wrote this note in the sand and luckily for me, she photographed it! This layout is very simple....I just made a simple double ended flag and placed the photo in the middle and added the Prima "Say it with Pearls" embellishments. I then used some of the stickers from the sheet on the top and bottom. And of course, added some more Prima Flowers!
My 12x12 layout is of my second son and his gorgeous girlfriend - Maddy. This layout didn't need a title other than the sticker from the sheet - "will you be my valentine?"
I must admit here, that I did turn to a magazine for some inspiration for this layout as I was having a MOJO moment! So once I had the idea, it just all came together. I made flags from the sheets that I used for the 8.5x11cm. Again I used the same Prima Flowers to embellish the photo. I added a Websters Page pin in pink for a bit of sparkle.
Now on with the OTP's........
The first one is a little album I picked up while we were in Ulladulla from a kitchen shop. It was just screaming to be used in this manor :)
Simply, it was just a matter of cutting out a background for each pocket. I used every single sheet in the 6x6 pad that was in our kit.
On the plain coloured pages, I decided to write little Love Notes/Poems/Sayings on them throughout the book. I tried to keep each page with a picture on it, as simple as possible. As you will see, the most I did is distressing some photos as the pages were too small for anything fancier.
The cover was simply just using the stickers from the pack and some of the Prima Flowers and some wonderful pearl "vine" I picked up in store last weekend.
The next OTP is a tribute to my hubby Michael.
Sticking with the LOVE and VALENTINE theme, I have used the keys in an unusual way. I bought a pack of Kaiser Wood Florishes in store last weekend and proceeded to cover each key in a different patterened paper. While I was having a little look around, I came across some Tim Holtz metal keys so I bought them to add to this OTP. I had a wooden heart with twine on it that I covered with the pink striped paper and mounted an old photo of him and journalled around the edge and I have called it "You hold all my Keys".
Thanks for taking the time to have a look at my work this month.
Stay tuned for next months kit - a fabulous Basic Grey kit - I am very excited!!
Until next month stay creative!
