Page 2 Girls DT Projects - July - Karen

Hi Karen here ....

I am so excited to reveal my first layout as a Design Team Member for Pages 2 Scrap.  Here is my creation using Echo Park paper from the 'for the record' collection.  The cage is a Words or Whatever chipboard.  I used a stamp for the flowers which I stamped out and then cut them out by hand.  Of course all of the products can be purchased at the P2S store so get along quick as they have 30% off STOREWIDE until midnight on Saturday.

This page features my cousins daughter who lives in the States.  I took the photos from facebook (with my cousins permission of course).  How adorable is she?  Hopefully one day I will get to meet her.

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you get inspired to create something today.

Page 2 Girls DT Projects - July - Karyn

So here it is, my FIRST ever DT project! I am very excited to be able to share these layouts with you. I would also like to thank Tracey & Sarah from Pages 2 Scrap for giving me the opportunity to work with them and the other Page 2 girls for the next 6 months.

My first layout is a simple 8.5 x 11 page of my hubby Michael. I really liked the way the Echo Park Papers - For The Records Collection supplied to us in our DT kit were so very versatile. As I mentioned in my bio, I have a passion for vintage/shabby style layouts but also play with clean lines. In this layout, I kept things very clean (for me anyway!). I did manage to get a little bit of black ink on the edges!! I used all the papers supplied in the kit (as listed below) as they are doublesided and co-ordinate beautifully. We were also given the Alpa Stickers which I used for the title.

For my second layout I once again used all the papers in the range! I also used the little cutoff strip at the bottom of the paper. I decided to distress each piece of paper that I randomly cut into varying lengths and widths and then just layered them - no real rhyme or reason in it! In this layout I decided to give the edges of the Tomato Cardstock a bit of a shabby edge by wiping it with bleach. Yes, thats right, just ordinary household bleach. The gorgeous Donna Downey stamp was also given the bleach treatment and to my amazement, the cardstock changed colour a few times and once completely dry it stayed the colour it is now. I was thrilled with my Jenni Bowlin Bingo Card as it worked perfectly with my photo of my daughter Rhyallie and her BFF Kayla.

Lastly with my third layout I got dirty and so did the paper!! I was going for a masculine look to compliment the picture of my son Nic's first tattoo. To give depth to the ink splotts, I actually used the Brillance re-inker and a heat tool. The ink bubbled and made the paper buckle which added depth to the page. Again I used the Alpha Stickers, and changed one of the stickers to suit my title. I stuck the word "the" over the top of the sticker "with love" to make the title "You are happy with the tough sticker". Another little trick I learned if only by accident......when you heat the ink on the page, you can actually make the ribbons crinkle and curl by hitting them with a bit of heat from the gun! Be careful though not to burn them!

Thanks for looking and I hope that you have a great month..........until August.

Page 2 Girls DT Project - July - Leonie

Hello, it's Leonie here with my first DT projects for Pages 2 Scrap!

For my first projects, I received some papers from the lovely 'For The Record' collection from Echo Park. This collection really suits my style; it is a bit vintage, a bit girly, but not too over-the-top flowery. I particularly like this Fancy Floral paper - it reminds me of the dresses my Nan used to wear.

I put together two layouts and a card - the first layout using red cardstock to co-ordinate with the red and green scheme. I've used a small heart punch and silver Glimmermist to make a blown dandelion effect; I thought this would suit the photo of Holly looking like she is doing something cute and feminine (although she is actually eating grass).

I used some twine and the polka-dot print on the back of the Vintage Linen paper to make a banner, and added some BasicGrey rub-ons, little flower cabochons and a Kaisercraft waterlily card from the Hunt and Gather collection under the photo. My kit also included a sweet poppy stamp which I've stamped in white ink at the bottom of the page. I really like how bright and vibrant this layout has turned out, although I was a little heavy-handed with the Glimmermist as usual and my paper has dried a bit lumpy.

For my second layout, I used the Echo Park 'Fabric Store' paper with some more red cardstock as a base. I haven't done a layout with filmstrip-style photos for a while so I thought I'd try these couple of shots of Ty lining up his matchbox cars in a perfectly straight row in the middle of the kitchen floor. He's a bit OCD when it comes to putting things in lines!

I've used the Jenny Bowlin mini bingo card from my kit behind the photos and a vintage French flash card and milk bottle cap. The alphas are also from the For The Record collection. There's a little strip of red and white ribbon and a chipboard arrow (which I've inked and added Dimensional Magic to), and a bit of blue Kaisercraft paint underneath it all, and that's about it!

It's been a while since I have made any cards, and I didn't want this small piece of Fancy Floral paper to go to waste, so I added it to a kraft card with a 1" punched circle and 'congrats' sticker from the Echo Park alpha sticker sheet. The ribbon effect is a happy accident; I realised once I started stapling that the staples were the right size to hold the ribbon down without actually piercing through it, so I could pull and adjust bits out to make a wave effect.

I had lots of fun making these projects and am already looking forward to getting stuck in to my next kit!

Page 2 Girls DT Project & Farewell from Jane Clark

Hi everyone Jane here, it is with much sadness that I am stepping down from the design team, I have had such fun creating with the kits and I must say everyone at Pages2Scrap are so lovely which made my job such a joy! I would like to thank Tracey for having me and Sarah for doing such a great job in organising everything. They haven't seen the last of me as I will still be frequently visiting the shop!!

Okay...so here are my cards that I made from the June kit. These papers were so easy to work with, the decorative edges and classic designs made creating a breeze.

I used one of the We R Memory Keepers Tres Elegant chipboard tag on it's side and added a sentiment in the bottom right-hand corner, add a decorative stripe from the Tres Elegant die-cut paper, a white paper flower and chipboard button to the left of it. It's simple but stylish I think!

On this card I used the trimmed the die-cut paper and created the card with the decorative edge down the side of the card to give interest. The white alphabet stickers were applied downwards for the sentiment and embellishments added below it.

I love the tissue paper that came in the kit, it gives great texture to your card. I pleated it and added it below a sentiment cut from one of the papers. I glued a pink rose over a white paper flower and insert the gorgeous pin through them and secure it to the card. Not much work but as I said before, simple but stylish!

For my fourth card a layered the chipboard photo corners around a square cut from one of the pretty papers, added a flower in the middle and top it with a chipboard square and adhesive pearl. I trimmed a selection of the papers and secured my chipboard square over them. The main paper on the card base is flocked and gives such an elegant feel to the card, I loved that!!

I do hope I have inspired you to create some cards, thank you so much for looking. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome the new design team members and wish them as much joy as I had, can't wait to see their creations.
Cheers Jane xx
